Found an injured animal?

Billy and Budee would like to take some time out from their busy schedule to talk to you about a very important subject.

The natural environment is very important to them and so is conservation of their homes and friends!

There are many varieties and species of wildlife in Buderim including parrots, kangaroos, possums, echidnas, tawny frogmouths, tree frogs, butcher birds, kookaburra's like Budee and many more.

Sadly way too many of our friends are injured by cars, pets and development activity. Often we are hurt at night when many of us are most active.

Did you know that 50% off all motorists have hit an animal on the road and 30,000 of us are killed everyday in Australia and that's NOT GOOD!

We are also very vulnerable to your pets, so please help us survive in our home which you share, by keeping them well secure inside your property. If you do happen to own a cat, put a bell around it's neck and please keep it indoors at night!

"Gail is the manager of " Wildlife Warriors" who are an organisation dedicated in the protection and conservation of wildlife worldwide. Their single biggest project is the Australian Wildlife Hospital and rescue unit, where full-time veterinarians, a Hospital Manager, vet nurses and volunteers provide first-class care for our sick, injured and orphaned friends."

The hospital is already overwhelmed with patients and getting busier every day.

Plans are underway to build a new facility to accommodating this growing need.

* Over 70 wildlife emergency phone calls are received every day.
* The Hospital receives up to 30 different species in a single day - including koalas, kangaroos, emus, echidnas, snakes, lizards, turtles and birds.
* The Hospital currently has over 30 koalas undergoing treatment.
* Approximately 70% of patients are victims of car accidents or domestic pet attacks.
* The Hospital's emergency hotline number is 1300 369 652 and is available to members of the public.
* Rescue vehicles and vet staff are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Please take special care and do what you can to help us, by working together my mates and I will be around for a long time to come."

Cheers Mate!
Budee
