The Buderim Scouts have operated on the mountain for more than 50 years. The Den was built by Scouts, Leaders and the Parents not long after World War 2 and is located at the top of Lindsay Road. (Check the Buderim map above)
The Scouts and Cub Scouts hold meetings each week and go a long way to keeping the community values and respect alive in the hearts of our young people.
Cub Scout Meetings are held every Tuesday from 5pm - 6pm

The Scout Group is self-funded, that means they have to find the dollars to pay for rates, power, camp requirements and other expenses from their own resources. When your child joins the Buderim Scout Group, you become a scouting family! This means you are expected to take part in fund raising activities and help to fund the group camps and other expenses associated with running a Scout Group. Relax! The load is not so heavy, you will find yourself on a roster to help at the odd sausage sizzle or be asked to go to a camp as a parent helper.
Get involvedin the Buderim Scout movement, it is a rewarding way to contribute to the future for your kids and the kids of Buderim.
Regular Scout Camps are part of the itenary, with trips to the Big Scout Grounds at Rocky Creek (near Landsborough), Lake Macdonald, Dunethin Rock, Archerfield Aerodrome and more. On the camps and other activities such as hiking, the Scouts can learn skills such as rope tying, cooking, even flying! They work toward achieving merit badges when proficiency is demonstrated in the different areas.
The Den was built in the 1970's by Scout leaders and Scouting families, but by the new century was suffering from the ravages of time and was not compliant with modern building safety codes. Following a WHS audit and report, the Parent's Group under the leadership of Karen Chellingworth took it upon themselves to bring the Den up to scratch. The subcommittee was lead by Merv Elliot, who has shown real leadership in bringing teams of locals together to rebuild, repair the facilities where required. A massive outpouring of support from the community at large following a story in the local paper showed just how much value the people of Buderim place on the Scout Den in Lindsay Road. In addition to the man hours made available by parents and friends, they received donations of cash and even a front fence was replace with a beaut powder coated installation thanks to Suncoast Fencing in Kunda Park. Now in the final stages of refurbishment, the Den is once again suitable for Scout sleepovers and is available for hire to other groups.
