Australia Day on Buderim - Jan 26 2008

This award winning event is run by our BWMCA.

Buderim Australia Day Celebrations

This is a day when the Buderim Aussie Spirit really shines! Much of the activity centres around the Buderim School Oval, with a Bush Breakfast cooked onsite for all comers. Various activities are seen through the day, these vary from year to year.

People travel from near and far to join in the Australia Day celebrations on Buderim and it is easy to see why. Buderim has a unique community spirit which is the envy of every other town in our great nation. If you want to put a finger on our community spirit, you must point to our unique Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA) . This group of volunteers is a living memorial to Australian Service men and women and keeps the traditional values of community alive and well!

The ceremony is conducted by the Buderim Mountain State School Captains.

An Ecumenical service is held at St. Mark's Anglican Church on King Street .

A major highlight is the Grand Parade

The Grand Australia Day Parade is one activity everybody gets into!
Whether you are part of the floats or one of the hundreds of people lining the main road from Lions Park to the Oval, you must participate.
It's the Australian thing to do!

Join the crowds lining the street and show your national pride. Take up a posi along Burnett Street between Townsend and Middy's.

Watch the marching bands and clubs, groups and businesses from around the Mountain.

Myriad floats provide a line of colour, everyone is out to make a statement about how great it is to be an Australian!

Here's the www.buderim.com float with Buddee riding in the back!

The parade can be followed to the school oval on Main Street.

All the kids from tots to twelve can enjoy the "Enchanted Forest" in the pine forest which overlooks the oval.

Buddee makes the most of the day by walking around and saying g'day to folks from the Buderim Community.

The Buderim Scouts are very active in the Australia Day Celebrations.

Too lazy to walk?

That's OK mate, just catch the Sunshine Express as it chuffs around the Oval

Catch the Aussie Cricket Match on the Oval - a true Aussie tradition for a summer arvo!

A limited overs match will take place between the Buderim Cricket Club and the Qld Premier's Eleven!

Did you get a hug from Cuddly Buddee?

During the lunch break you can enjoy a delicious lunch, cold refreshment, tea/coffee from various outlets manned by local community groups.

The tradition is to attend the Parade, hang about for the judging of the floats, then enjoy the myriad activities of the day. These include the Mayor's 11 Cricket Match, complete with onsite refreshments area.

The patriotic theme continues with the BWMCA involvement in the Maroochy Citizenship and Australia Day Awards Ceremony. Recognised locals who receive an award will take part in the Parade while the Citizenship Ceremony will be held in the afternoon at 3pm.

At the end of a big day, why not relax and enjoy Happy Hour
with local wines and ales - all to upbeat music!
